Awara Review

Who is an Awara Mattress Good For?

Awara’s hybrid mattress provides well-rounded comfort that can suit a variety of sleepers. However, it may not be the right choice for people under 130 pounds or those who prefer a softer mattress. Additionally, some side sleepers and stomach sleepers may not find the Awara mattress supportive enough for their particular style of sleeping. For most side and stomach sleepers though, the Awara mattress could be a great option. Consider these recommendations based on sleeper type:

  • Back Sleepers: This mattress is perfect for back sleepers. It will cradle your spine and keep weight off of your joints to give you a great night’s sleep over and over again.
  • Combo Sleepers: The Awara hybrid mattress is a well-rounded option that could be perfect for individuals who sleep in a variety of ways throughout the night. It’s also ideal for couples, as the mattress does an above-average job at absorbing motion.
  • Side and Stomach Sleepers: Most side and stomach sleepers will find the firmness of the Awara mattress adequate. There are some side and stomach sleepers who have made note online that Awara was not quite firm enough for them.
  • Heavy Individuals: Individuals who weigh more than 230 pounds consistently enjoy Awara mattresses the most. The mattress provides a blend of comfort and support that is ideal for heavier sleepers or couples who sleep together.

Awara Mattress Construction

Each Awara mattress is composed of four distinct layers. Every successive layer builds off the other to provide customers with a unique sleeping experience. Here’s how the company’s mattresses stack up, going from top to bottom:

1. Breathable Organic Materials

A plush euro top cover made with soft new Zealand wool and organic cotton is the top layer of the Awara mattress.

2. 4” of Cooling Natural Dunlop Latex Foam

The second layer is sourced from real rubber trees and 2” thicker than standard hybrid mattresses.

3. Premium Pocketed Coils

This third layer is a thick 9” contouring support core of premium pocketed coils. Each coil is individually wrapped to provide optimal pressure relief and spinal support.

4. Soft Base Layer

The soft base layer has four reinforced handles. It's a cotton-based blend that adds a touch of luxury to the mattress.

Off-Gassing?

Awara mattresses are very environmentally friendly, and as expected, there is little to no off-gassing when opening a new shipment. Any potential odors upon receipt of the mattress should be gone in less than 12 hours.

Awara Mattress Comfort Levels

Awara’s flagship latex mattress is currently only available in one comfort level. The mattress has a firmness rating of 6.5 based on a 1-10 scale where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. This puts the mattress right in the sweet spot of what the average sleeper wants.

A 6.5 firmness rating is a popular choice for individuals who sleep on their back, side, and stomach. This is a preference that’s backed by science, as The National Institute of Health cites several studies showing that medium-firm mattresses can reduce back and shoulder pain. However, the Awara hybrid mattress may not be a good choice for you if you prefer a softer sleeping surface.

Awara Mattress Foundations

Awara sells more than just their flagship mattress. They also offer their customers a variety of sleeping accessories and furniture such as foundations. The company currently sells a standard platform bed, an adjustable frame and a foundation package that includes a frame and headboard.

The Awara Platform Bed

This simple, yet stylish platform is the perfect compliment to a new Awara hybrid mattress. The Awara platform bed has a minimalist design that is a natural fit for any contemporary bedroom. Awara sells its platform bed in every size they sell their mattresses.

Adjustable Frame

Awara’s adjustable frame gives you even more control over your sleep each night. It enables you to adjust the position of your mattress to the exact specifications you want. This can provide you with more relaxation and make it easier for you to fall asleep each night. The adjustable Awara bed frame is available in Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and Cali King sizes.

Frame Plus Headboard

Awara also sells a frame plus headboard base. This classy bed frame uses a modern, minimalistic design that creates a timeless look. The product includes an upholstered, button-tufted headboard and metal frame with wood slats. You won’t need to purchase any box springs or additional frames after getting Awara’s Frame Plus Headboard. The bed frame is available in Full, Queen and King sizes.

Awara Company Info

Awara was founded in 2018 with a simple premise. The company wanted to create a mattress with naturally-sourced materials that would be better for both your sleep and the environment. They’ve accomplished that goal with their hybrid latex mattress. Awara beds feature premium materials that are sourced from leading manufacturers around the world. Each mattress goes through an intensive screening process before being sent to a customer. Awara’s beliefs about what a mattress should be have enabled the company to make a splash with its initial offering.

Awara mattresses are one of the most affordable luxury options on the market. They also include a lifetime warranty, a 365-night sleep trial, free shipping and free returns.

Overall Awara Mattress Review - 3.5/5

Awara mattresses are an excellent choice for a specific category of sleeper. If you are heavier than 130 pounds and enjoy a firmer bed, than an Awara hybrid mattress could be ideal for you. The company’s flagship mattress is built with organic materials that keep you cool while sleeping. It’s sourced from 100% organic material and features a latex blend that’s certified by the Rainforest Alliance.

On top of all this, Awara will ship and set up your mattress for free. They’ll even provide you with a lifetime warranty and a 365-night trial. This should give you added confidence if purchasing a mattress from Awara.

However, no mattress is perfect. The Awara hybrid could have scored better if it had more customization options. At present, the company offers nothing to sleepers who are lightweight or who prefer a softer option. These consumers will have to look elsewhere. Still, the Awara mattress is an excellent choice for customers who fit the profile described above.
